TechFlow, September 30 — According to the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Network, during the national CPPCC's biweekly consultative forum on "Promoting High-Quality Agricultural Development with New Quality Productive Forces," CPPCC National Committee member Ng Kit-ching stated that blockchain is one of the key digital technologies supporting the modernization of agriculture.
Ng pointed out that by establishing a "digital identity" for agricultural products, blockchain technology not only facilitates consumer verification of product quality but also enables coordination among various stakeholders in the industrial chain based on trustworthy data, effectively reducing blind production and inefficient circulation. He emphasized that digital agriculture relies on data credibility, and blockchain can provide reliable evidence storage to extend digitization from the production end to the entire industrial chain, helping shift agriculture from output-oriented to quality-oriented development.
Ng suggested establishing a "Blockchain Agriculture Special Fund" to subsidize farmers' purchases of lightweight blockchain devices and promote collaboration between local governments and financial institutions to use traceability data as a basis for credit ratings, thereby lowering financing barriers.
