According to Tencent News, Fosun International has officially decided to apply for a Hong Kong stablecoin license. The report states that on August 6, Fosun International founder Guo Guangchang personally led the stablecoin team to meet separately with Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive John Lee and Financial Secretary Paul Chan. Fosun has established a dedicated team for the stablecoin license application. Through its Starway Technology platform, Fosun Wealth, a subsidiary, has already made moves in the digital asset sector, including participating in the distribution of a money market fund tokenization product launched by China Asset Management, and developing a real-world asset (RWA) tokenization platform. The report states that on August 6, Guo Guangchang, founder of Fosun International, personally led the stablecoin team to meet with Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee and Financial Secretary Paul Chan.
Fosun has established a dedicated team for the stablecoin license application. Through its Starpath Technology platform, Fosun Wealth—under the Fosun group—has already made moves in the digital asset space, including participating in the distribution of a tokenized money market fund product launched by China Asset Management, and developing a real-world asset (RWA) tokenization platform.
According to the timetable set by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, institutions intending to apply may initiate contact with regulators after August 1 and must formally submit their license application materials by September 30. As of press time, Fosun has not provided any comment.
