Huobi HTX Releases 2025 H1 Security Report: Multi-Dimensional Protection System Builds Industry Security Barrier
Huobi HTX firmly believes that only by proactively building a "multi-dimensional integrated" deep security system and an open, win-win security ecosystem can we provide a truly solid foundation of trust for tens of millions of users worldwide.

In the first half of 2025, the cryptocurrency industry has once again been frequently alerted by security incidents. On February 21, global exchange platform Bybit suffered a major hacking attack, losing over $1.4 billion—making it the largest single theft in history. The emergence of the "Lazarus" group behind this incident has once again exposed deep-rooted issues within the industry regarding evolving attack methods, system vulnerabilities, and cross-platform response mechanisms.
Against this backdrop, HTX (formerly Huobi), a leading global digital asset service platform, continues to increase its investment in security. By building three core security systems—risk control, operations, and public opinion monitoring—HTX has comprehensively strengthened multi-layered protection for user accounts, trading activities, and fund information, successfully preventing multiple risk events during the first half of 2025 and safeguarding user assets.
Industry Security Landscape: Frequent Attacks and Increasing Technical Complexity
The first half of 2025 saw frequent hacking attacks and fraud incidents across the crypto market. Malicious on-chain behaviors have evolved from simple phishing into sophisticated "combined attacks," including social engineering, deployment of malicious contracts, UI spoofing, and deep impersonation, exploiting gaps between platform security systems. Incidents such as the Bybit hack and multiple protocol breaches on Solana highlight the highly professionalized and automated nature of attackers' techniques.
At the same time, regulatory environments are continuously evolving. Multiple countries have introduced compliance requirements for virtual asset service providers, mandating standards in anti-money laundering (AML), account protection, and risk audit practices, pushing the industry toward higher benchmarks for security and compliance.
Mainstream security technologies are also advancing. Tools like on-chain transaction tracing systems, AI-powered risk detection engines, and automated smart contract audits are becoming standard across platforms, significantly enhancing capabilities to identify and respond to unknown threats.
Mid-Year Data Review: Comprehensive Improvements in Blacklist Interception, Fraud Tracking, and User Protection
In the first half of 2025, HTX delivered strong performance in account security, transaction safety, and fund protection.
Account Security: Over 2.01 million security alerts were sent to users—1.809 million via email and 206,000 via SMS—effectively raising user awareness. A total of 127 fake app download pages and phishing websites were taken down, preventing users from falling victim to scams.
Transaction Security: 15 withdrawal attempts to fraudulent addresses were successfully blocked, recovering 104,847 USDT in potential losses for users. Additionally, 68 cases involving stolen external funds flowing into the platform were reported and handled, resulting in the freezing of 1,429,787 USDT in illicit assets.
Fund Security: 20,871 new blacklist addresses were added. 47 deposit attempts involving blacklisted addresses were intercepted, preventing illegal funds from entering the platform—totaling 1,449,467 USDT.
In June 2025 alone, HTX’s security data showed continued reinforcement: 5 fraudulent withdrawals were blocked, helping freeze over $400,000 worth of stolen assets for external users; 2,769 new blacklisted addresses were added with $21,239 in suspicious transactions intercepted; and 41 new phishing links and counterfeit platforms were dismantled.

Security Achievements: New Systems, Technologies, and Concepts for Multi-Dimensional Collaborative Defense
To provide comprehensive protection for user assets and platform operations, HTX upgraded and restructured its security infrastructure in the first half of 2025, establishing an integrated framework encompassing three key systems: risk control, operations, and public opinion monitoring.
Risk Control System: An in-house developed millisecond-level real-time risk engine and comprehensive monitoring alert system now cover all business processes. Critical user actions are filtered in real time, greatly reducing risks such as account theft, money laundering, and malicious trading.
Operations System: A 7×24 customer support and security operations response team ensures timely handling of risk alerts and security incidents, enabling efficient and closed-loop risk resolution.
Public Opinion System: Through close collaboration with top-tier security firms, blockchain projects, and exchanges, HTX has established a “joint defense and coordination mechanism” that enables rapid detection and synchronized responses to industry-wide security threats, strengthening hacker tracking and cross-platform investigation capabilities.
Leveraging these comprehensive security systems, HTX employs multi-factor authentication, behavioral recognition, dynamic risk rating, and joint efforts with security organizations to remove fake content—continuously lowering the likelihood of users being compromised. For fund security, HTX maintains a blacklist database containing hundreds of thousands of known malicious addresses and collaborates with authoritative institutions on anti-money laundering intelligence. Combined with on-chain tracking systems and advanced risk models, it accurately identifies abnormal fund flows and prevents suspicious assets from entering the platform or causing user losses. In terms of information security, HTX implements financial-grade information protection frameworks and strict internal controls to ensure user data confidentiality and prevent leaks or misuse.
Additionally, HTX fully upgraded its Proof-of-Reserves (PoR) data storage system to use TiDB architecture, further improving system stability and processing efficiency while effectively reducing operational costs. Data shows that HTX's overall reserve assets grew significantly in the first half of 2025, with core asset holdings steadily increasing. Stablecoins such as USDT and ETH, along with major cryptocurrencies, have maintained consecutive months of net inflows, reflecting growing user trust in the platform.
Moving Toward a Safer Future: Building a Secure Industry Ecosystem to Enhance Trust and Resilience
Going forward, HTX will continue to intensify its commitment to security development. As a senior HTX technology expert stated: “In 2024, we witnessed severe challenges to the crypto industry’s security defenses. The Bybit incident sounded another alarm for the entire industry at a cost of $1.44 billion—attackers are shifting their focus from technical vulnerabilities to human weaknesses. In 2025, we’ve deepened the integration of zero-trust architecture with behavioral analytics, achieving three core upgrades: dynamic permission verification, full-chain transaction validation, and常态化 red-blue team exercises. These lay a solid foundation for protecting user assets and advancing the security ecosystem of the digital currency industry.”
● Dynamic Permission Verification: Fund operations require dual authentication based on environment tags and biometric features, ensuring consistency between the operator and operating environment;
● Full-Chain Transaction Validation: A smart contract-level transaction content comparison mechanism fundamentally prevents front-end UI tampering from leading to transaction fraud;
●常态化 Red-Blue Team Exercises: The security team simulates the latest attack tactics used by hacker groups and APT organizations every month, using offensive simulations to strengthen defensive readiness and enhance platform adaptability.
HTX firmly believes that only through proactively constructing a “multi-dimensional integrated” deep defense system and an open, cooperative security ecosystem can we provide a truly robust foundation of trust for tens of millions of users worldwide. Moving forward, HTX will spare no effort in investing in security infrastructure, working with the broader industry to confront increasingly complex threats and lead the sector toward greater transparency, health, and sustainability.
