Previously discussed, and one that allowed everyone to free-mint points, @nyanheroes is about to have its TGE on May 21.
This means those who farmed points will receive an airdrop.
Below I’ll briefly discuss this project and share my personal views on the game.
Let’s dive in ⬇️
1/ Game Overview and Background
Nyan Heroes is a third-person FPS shooter where players control Nyan and their mech to battle opponents. The game runs on Unreal Engine 5.
$NYAN was led by Mechanism Capital, with participation from AK and Solana Ventures, and has also been shared by Solana’s official account. Given its game quality and download numbers, Nyan serves as a strong boost for Solana's otherwise sparse gaming ecosystem (Nyan has also partnered with G2 and Team Liquid). After TGE, $NYAN will be listed on Bybit and Backpack.
Although $NYAN did not win the second round of voting on Jupiter LFG, both its game quality and backing are solid, making it worth watching.
2/ Gameplay Experience
Nyan is now live on Epic.
To get more accurate feedback on gameplay, I interviewed several group members. Below is my summary.
Overall, the game's UI/UX resembles traditional shooters (still somewhat rough, but visuals are decent). Players familiar with shooters, especially Overwatch, will find it easy to pick up. Like Overwatch, it uses an ability-plus-ultimate system, and character roles feel similar.
As mentioned earlier, the core gameplay revolves around "players controlling Nyan and their mech to fight enemies." This means when the mech dies, players can still control Nyan directly. Once revival conditions are met, the mech can be summoned again (similar to D.Va in Overwatch).
The key difference from Overwatch is weapon selection—players can choose their own weapons. While characters come with fixed abilities, they can equip different guns based on player preference. This adds greater playability and strategic depth.
However, there are several areas needing improvement: balance issues, UI/UX optimization, clearer descriptions for characters and weapons, incomplete maps, and slightly clunky in-game controls. None of these are major concerns—the game is currently in EA (early access), and these issues can likely be resolved through a few update cycles. The full version is expected by early next year.
3/ Game Data
According to Block, after launching on the Epic Store, Nyan attracted 200K player downloads and entered the top 30 most-played games on the platform.
4/ Tokenomics (Total Supply Likely 1B)
50% of tokens will go toward Community/Incentives and Ecosystem.
3% allocated to market makers and liquidity.
47% allocated to investors, advisors, and the team.
Game Utility ⬇️
-
Activate Web3 mode to unlock additional rewards
-
Purchase premium items and skins; trade rare items and skins on the marketplace
-
Earn income by renting out assets
-
Entry fees for tournaments
-
And more
Additionally, the whitepaper mentions that players may lock $NYAN to gain special access rights and rewards.
From this image, we can see what Nyan aims to achieve:
1. Differentiate Web2 and Web3 players using the in-game virtual token CATNIP, allowing Web2 players to enjoy the game without interacting with Tokens/NFTs.
2. Reward active players based on actual contributions (free or paid).
3. Beyond seasonal rewards, players have multiple income streams (marketplace trading).
4. The team earns revenue from engaged players, which incentivizes them to keep improving the game.
Overall, the fundamentals of this game are solid within the Web3 gaming space. The CEX listings are among the top outside Binance and OKX (comparable to $MAVIA). Tokens launched on Backpack have generally performed well initially, so I’m considering buying in post-launch. Specific airdrop rules aren’t clear yet—we’ll discuss them later.
One more note: $NYAN will serve as the core of the entire game ecosystem, acting as the primary medium for all Web3-related activities. The game team consists of veterans from titles like Destiny, Halo, Mass Effect, Assassin’s Creed, and Fortnite. Game studios can also participate. What I particularly care about is whether Nyan can successfully attract more Web2 players into the ecosystem.
For comparison, here are valuations of other games:
Pixels Online 1.7B
Mavia 841M
Illuvium 795M
Shrapnel 297M
I think game valuations on Solana might be higher, and given Nyan’s solid fundamentals, a valuation range of 300M–500M could be a great entry point? Just my guess. NFA
