Farcaster is trending, MEME coins are rampant—what ecosystem tokens are worth watching?
Farcaster emphasizes user control over data and allows social data to be transferred between different applications within its ecosystem.
By TechFlow
Over the past week, Farcaster has become a frequently discussed topic in the crypto market.
As a social protocol built on Ethereum using the OP Stack, users can register simply by connecting an Ethereum wallet.
Its interface and functionality resemble Twitter, but unlike traditional Web2 platforms, Farcaster emphasizes user control over data and allows social data to be transferred across different applications within its ecosystem.

As early as 2021, Farcaster completed a $30 million seed round led by A16Z, and core figures in crypto such as Vitalik often share insights on the platform.
So what’s driving Farcaster’s renewed popularity?
From a developer perspective, Farcaster recently launched a new feature called Frames, which turns any cast (think of it as a Farcaster post or tweet) into an interactive application. This innovation opens up new possibilities for the Farcaster ecosystem, including integrated airdrop checkers and one-click gas-free NFT minting directly within casts.
In other words, Frames make it easy to attract crypto developers and pave the way for more innovative crypto use cases.
On the user side, token airdrops on Farcaster have further amplified the wealth effect, with more users beginning to speculate after seeing early gains from others’ airdrops.

Stimulated by multiple factors, Farcaster has seen significant increases in user count, post volume, and activity levels. The mobile app Warpcast even crashed temporarily due to login issues—a sign that may signal a new shift in narrative trends.

Within today’s Farcaster ecosystem, which tokens and projects are worth watching?
$Degen: The Meme Leader of Farcaster
As the name suggests, this token carries strong speculative connotations and is currently the leading token within the Farcaster ecosystem.
The origin of this token is simple: users who actively participate—such as posting—in the Farcaster degen channel may receive $Degen token rewards.

At its core, Degen is a meme token designed to encourage crypto degens to discuss speculation on Farcaster. Yet $Degen has now emerged from the crowd of airdropped tokens to become a recent focus of crypto media attention.
The token was deployed on the Base chain, and Degen's market cap has already reached $110 million, with substantial price growth in the last 24 hours.
Around January 26, Degen was trading at just $0.0002; it has since appreciated nearly 15-fold.

In Degen’s tokenomics, 15% of the total supply has already been distributed via airdrop, with another ~20% expected in future drops. Thus, active participation in the Degen channel could yield additional airdrops. As the current leading meme token in the Farcaster ecosystem, monitoring $Degen’s secondary market performance is also a solid strategy.

$Frame: The Token Sharing Its Name with the Frame Feature
A token sharing its name with Farcaster’s recently launched Frame feature, $Frame currently has a market cap under $7 million—far smaller than $Degen—but this also implies greater potential upside.

Originally created on Base on February 2, the token began as an experiment to test the Frame functionality on Farcaster, but later evolved into a meme-like symbol.
Currently, $FRAME will be used to provide grants, bounties, and rewards to builders in the Farcaster ecosystem, especially those building with Frames. However, the airdrop has ended, so the token is now only available on secondary markets like Uniswap.

$Cast: The Token Named After the Posting Function
In Warpcast, Farcaster’s main app, each post you create uses the “cast” button to send your message.

Thus, “cast” functions similarly to “tweet,” forming one of Farcaster’s core features. Naturally, memes followed—$CAST, a token sharing the same name, has appeared and, at time of writing, has a market cap of just $40,000.
It’s important to note that such conceptually tied tokens carry both high risk and high reward—they may gain sudden attention or fade quickly into obscurity. But much like the early days of inscriptions, where early naming secured prominence, being among the first to associate with a core concept increases chances of attracting attention.

Other low-market-cap tokens include $Far (a nod to Farcaster’s name). Please do your own research (DYOR).
$Points: A Meme Born as a Joke That’s Now Blooming Again
Back in December, Twitter user Kyle McCollom posted a joke prediction that a meme coin named Points would appear—and inevitably fail.

This offhand tweet was taken up by crypto OG Matthias, who deployed a contract, airdropped $Points tokens to Farcaster users, and built a minting frontend.
In mid-December, the Points token surged, rising approximately 2800% from its initial price, but soon lost momentum and returned to baseline levels.

Previously, founder Matthias even livestreamed the burning of 75% of the Points token supply—an act reflecting transparent humor.

Recently, as Farcaster heats up again, Points has seen a temporary rebound. As shown in the chart below, Points spiked sharply around February 3 before quickly retreating.
As an early Farcaster-related meme, any minor developments in the ecosystem are likely to impact this token’s performance. It may therefore be worth adding to your watchlist and trading based on Farcaster-related news.

NFT Projects
Beyond meme tokens, several NFT projects are also worth noting:
-
Farcaster OG:
Officially issued OG NFTs with potential airdrop expectations. The current floor price is 2.4 ETH.

-
Farcats:
A cat-themed NFT collection described as Farcaster’s mascot, consisting of 1,661 unique and collectible NFTs. Current floor price is around 0.7 ETH.

-
Castaways:
Created by 0xen, the most well-known artist in the Farcaster ecosystem, this is a collection of 1,000 unique Farcaster NFTs. Originally an exploration of meme potential around Farcaster’s “arch” logo, it later evolved into a large-scale series with countless reinterpretations.
Current floor price is around 0.25 ETH.
Notably, this is an older project—the mint began in March last year—but remained relatively obscure until all NFTs were finally minted around February this year, coinciding with Farcaster’s resurgence.

Overall, the surge in popularity of Farcaster’s main app has created short-term momentum for memes and NFTs, further highlighting how rapidly crypto narratives evolve through social discourse.
As a new frontier in crypto social networking, Farcaster will inevitably spawn more new projects and tokens. For average users, active participation on the platform—engaging in discussions and staying alert to emerging topics—is essential to capturing new airdrop opportunities and gaining informational edges on early-stage projects.
Readers interested in Farcaster can use the author’s invitation link to register. Upon successful signup, you’ll receive 50 warps, which can be used to create channels, mint NFTs, or perform other actions within the app.
