Over the past few months, the Bitcoin ecosystem has undoubtedly been the biggest highlight, while narratives in the Ethereum ecosystem have weakened and floor prices of major blue-chip NFTs continue to decline.
However, recently the domestic NFT project Tinfun (commonly known as "Tianfang") has become a market focal point, attracting over 25,000 ETH in participation within just 24 hours during its public sale raffle. What exactly is Tianfang, and why is it being hailed by the community as the "pride of domestic NFTs"? Odaily Planet Daily investigates.

Tinfun is a project initiated by well-known Chinese KOL LaserCat (commonly known as "Laser Cat"). It's a PFP project themed around traditional Chinese culture with a total supply of 10,000 pieces.
According to LaserCat, Tianfang underwent extensive planning—the project was first conceptualized at the end of 2022, officially revealed via Twitter on March 15, 2023, and finally launched on January 7, 2024. After the sale concludes, the artwork will not be immediately unveiled; however, the team hopes to complete the reveal before the Lunar New Year so holders can use their Tianfang NFTs as profile pictures when the new year begins. LaserCat emphasized that Tianfang does not offer strong utility nor any promises—it is an art-driven NFT project.
Visiting the official website reveals a horizontal design (similar to a scroll), inspired by the cultural meaning of the Chinese character “横” (heng), symbolizing openness, vitality, and dynamism. Additionally, information from the official Twitter indicates that elements of the Tinfun NFTs are derived from mythological classics such as "Shan Hai Jing" (Classic of Mountains and Seas) and "Sou Shen Ji" (In Search of the Supernatural).

Project Launch: Increased Whitelist Allocation, Reduced Public Sale
At the end of December 2023, the official launch rules for Tianfang were confirmed as follows:

Total supply: 10,000 NFTs; with 5,000 reserved for whitelist participants (no oversupply) and 5,000 allocated for public sale;

Price: 0.1 ETH;

Mechanism: Public sale conducted via lucky draw (raffle);

Launch date: January 7, 2024.
Due to the high热度 surrounding Momo Fish Game fragments, whitelist demand exceeded expectations. To better protect whitelist participants' rights and experience, Tianfang adjusted the whitelist cap upward to 5,800 units, reducing the public sale allocation to 4,200—keeping the total supply unchanged at 10,000. Any unsold whitelist spots will automatically roll over into the public sale pool.
In response to community questions about why the team didn't opt for an all-whitelist sale or a direct gas war, LaserCat explained on Twitter that an all-whitelist model would overly incentivize aggressive marketing tactics ("PUA"), while a gas war would likely result in bots or professional scalpers dominating the mint, making such gas expenditure wasteful. Although the raffle mechanism isn’t perfectly fair, it represents a relatively fair compromise.
The public sale began at 11:00 AM on January 7, 2024, lasting 24 hours. During this time, each wallet could deposit between 0.1 ETH (minimum) and 0.2 ETH (maximum) once for a chance to win in the raffle. However, due to overwhelming community interest, the public sale raffle quickly surpassed its target, reaching 25,000 ETH in deposits within less than 24 hours. To prevent excessive market speculation, mitigate FOMO, and ensure user fund safety, the team decided to close the public sale early at 8:00 AM on January 8.

Over-the-Counter Trading
Currently, the public sale draw has concluded, but NFTs have not yet been airdropped to winners, nor has the secondary marketplace opened. Trading remains in the form of OTC (over-the-counter) transactions. According to community feedback, there is significant buying interest for Tinfun whitelists in WeChat groups at prices ranging from 0.8 to 0.85 ETH (see image below).

Meanwhile, some KOLs on Twitter have expressed bullish sentiment toward Tinfun, stating they intend to acquire large quantities of whitelists before the secondary market opens. The image below shows one KOL offering to buy TinFun whitelist slots at $1,800 each.

Based on current OTC whitelist prices, market expectations for Tinfun’s opening price on secondary markets are above 1 ETH. Therefore, users who did not win in the raffle or those interested in Tinfun may consider this projected value when deciding whether to purchase at launch.
