The ETH Global Istanbul hackathon has recently kicked off.
Multiple new projects are competing; below are the 10 finalists advancing to the final round:
-
Clade Club
-
S.C.I
-
BridgeBuddy
-
Buddy-Guard
-
Sarma
-
AidDistribute
-
TapTrust
-
Footy Stars

Lens & Frens
1. Clade Club: A fair governance platform prioritizing data-driven decision-making
Project link:
https://ethglobal.com/showcase/clade-club-vhgdb
Project Overview:
Aims to influence DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) governance structures by addressing issues of fairness, efficiency, and transparency. Inspired by Ray Dalio's "dot collector" concept, we have developed a platform that combines quadratic voting, facial recognition KYC via Worldcoin, and a unique session-based decision-making process.

2. S.C.I: Verifying smart contract security and preventing phishing attacks
Project Link:
https://ethglobal.com/showcase/s-c-i-0760q
Project Overview:
Secure Contract Interactions is an on-chain contract-to-domain verification protocol. It verifies whether the smart contract you are interacting with has been authenticated by the domain owner, helping prevent scams and phishing attacks.

3. BridgeBuddy: A wallet that automatically bridges funds
Project Link:
https://ethglobal.com/showcase/bridgebuddy-36te1
Project Overview:
An account-abstraction wallet that automatically bridges assets when needed, leveraging Hyperlane Warp Routes and Safe Core.
This project simplifies user experience by abstracting away the complexities of various EVM-compatible chains. Users no longer need to monitor and manage funds across different chains or manually complete bridge transactions—wallets consolidate and display all assets in one place. If a transaction requires additional funds on a specific chain, the wallet automatically bridges the necessary amount before execution, enabled by account abstraction for seamless operations.
4. Buddy-Guard: Community as your personal guardian
Project Link:
https://ethglobal.com/showcase/buddy-guard-1ivrj
Project Overview:
A social safety app designed for individuals who may walk alone late at night (especially single women). Users can add their social circle as "guardian buddies," who can then help monitor their whereabouts and offer support when needed.

5. Sarma: Developer tool enabling privacy-preserving computation
Project Link:
https://ethglobal.com/showcase/sarma-evm-zkevm-pexc-9wp7o
Project Overview:
This project introduces Sarma, a tool that enables public/private execution duality on any EVM, and also supports cross-chain functionality across multiple EVM chains. Developers can write public parts of smart contracts in Solidity as usual. For private execution and addressing, Sarma uses encrypted UTXO-style blobs to ensure privacy. The private portions of smart contracts are written in Noir.

6. AidDistribute: Bringing transparency to humanitarian funding
Project Link:
https://ethglobal.com/showcase/aiddistribute-vem7n
Project Overview:
AidDistribute enables organizations like UNICEF to securely distribute cash assistance with conditional spending controls.
Organizations deposit stablecoins into a transparent vault and mint bearer tokens, which are then distributed to designated recipients. These tokens can be seamlessly transferred to approved merchants or service providers, who redeem them for stablecoins.
Organizations can also set withdrawal limits per merchant, ensuring equitable economic distribution across services. AidDistribute ensures traceable and responsible channels for direct cash transfers, enhancing transparency, efficiency, and direct impact in humanitarian aid efforts.

7. TapTrust: A new event experience powered by AA and NFC technology
Project Link:
https://ethglobal.com/showcase/taptrust-12smv
Project Overview:
TapTrust revolutionizes offline event participation by combining NFC technology with Ethereum's account abstraction. Each attendee receives a new NFC chip with a unique key pair, allowing interaction with Ethereum transactions even without ether, ensuring seamless, active participation while protecting privacy. This innovative approach gives each user a new private address, preserving anonymity while enabling transparent event interactions.
TapTrust is more than just an entry tool—it’s a gateway to a new era of privacy-centric, decentralized event experiences, where every tap is a secure, anonymous connection to the blockchain world.

8. Footy Stars: An on-chain version of "Football Manager"
Project Link:
https://ethglobal.com/showcase/footy-stars-zw8ug
Project Overview:
FootyStars is the world's first verifiable football simulator, paving the way for immersive fantasy football games involving real-world stakes. For the first time, Fantasy Football evolves beyond just a game—it becomes a true football manager simulation.
Provable Simulation: Match outcomes are "trustless"—anyone can verify whether the simulation was executed correctly by checking against the results. ZKPs are generated from off-chain zkML.

9.ZKvote.cc: A ZKP-powered on-chain voting system
Project Link:
https://ethglobal.com/showcase/zk-vote-9ipgt
Project Overview:
Blockchain-based election systems often face two challenges: user anonymity and vote uniqueness. Traditional sybil-resistant solutions typically rely on multi-verified wallets, compromising anonymity.
This project enables a voting system where users can prove their eligibility to vote using verifiable private credentials via ZKPs.

10. Lens & Frens: A zero-knowledge proof ticketing system built on Lens
Project Link:
https://ethglobal.com/showcase/lens-and-frens-ogedp
Project Overview:
A user-friendly zero-knowledge (zk) ticketing system, part of the DevConnect login framework. Here, users create tickets on the blockchain, meaning each ticket is secure and verifiable regardless of where it was minted.
As the developers put it, we like to think of these different chains as our "friends," while still preserving privacy.
Additionally, the project emphasizes community by integrating a method to verify Lens Protocol profiles, allowing ticket holders to prove their identity through their decentralized social media accounts on the Lens platform.
