OKX Web3 Wallet becomes the first multi-chain wallet to support Bitcoin and BRC-20 token staking
OKX Web3 Wallet now supports Bitcoin and BRC-20 token staking, becoming the first multi-chain wallet in the industry to offer this feature.
On July 19, 2023, OKX, a leading global Web3 technology company, announced that the OKX Web3 Wallet now supports staking of Bitcoin and BRC-20 tokens, becoming the first multi-chain wallet in the industry to offer this functionality.
This feature is built on the BRC20-S protocol, an ecosystem standard for Bitcoin introduced by OKX. The BRC20-S protocol is now officially open for deployment, allowing all developers and projects to deploy BRC20-S staking pools via OKX and offer BRC20-S token rewards to BRC-20 holders—enhancing user engagement and community growth. Notably, BRC20-S is an open-source protocol, and OKX will not conduct audits or reviews of deployed pools.
Additionally, users can now stake Bitcoin or BRC-20 tokens directly through the DeFi section of the OKX Web3 Wallet—without selling their BRC-20 assets—and earn rewards in BRC20-S tokens.
The Bitcoin and BRC-20 staking capability complements OKX Web3 Wallet’s existing Earn product suite. More use cases are coming, including a dedicated BRC20-S token trading market, all of which will be integrated into the DeFi section of the OKX Web3 Wallet.
Jason Lau, Chief Innovation Officer at OKX, said: “The OKX Web3 Wallet is the first multi-chain wallet to support staking for Bitcoin and BRC-20 tokens. We’ve listened to our users who wanted more ways to engage with the Bitcoin ecosystem, and we’re excited to meet that demand. We continue to gather feedback and look forward to sharing more upcoming features later this month.”
OKX has long been a strong supporter of Bitcoin. Two years ago, it integrated the Lightning Network into its centralized exchange to enable faster and cheaper Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals. The OKX Web3 Wallet has officially launched its Ordinals marketplace and is the first multi-chain wallet to support trading of BRC-20 tokens and Bitcoin NFTs, as well as viewing and transferring Ordinals NFTs.
