F2O Project Overview: What Projects Are Worth Watching After DigiDaigaku?
The F2O project comes with inherent capital appeal, giving holders confidence to remain diamond-handed even during a bear market.

Written by: 0xbread, TechFlow
This summer, the Free to Own (F2O) model introduced by DigiDaigaku emerged out of nowhere and swept across the entire Web3 space. F2O has since become the hottest trend in blockchain gaming following Play to Earn and Free to Play.
Before we begin, it’s important to understand the difference between Free to Own and Free Mint. The biggest distinction—aside from institutional funding in F2O—is that F2O projects come with executable roadmaps. In contrast, Free Mint projects rely heavily on community support, but execution requires capital. Due to lack of funding and bear market conditions, even popular Free Mint projects often collapse quickly after their initial hype, leaving behind a mess.
F2O projects, however, carry the光环 of venture backing, giving holders confidence to remain diamond-handed even during a bear market. As a brand-new sector, F2O could become the driving wave of the next bull market. This article introduces several recently trending F2O projects—let’s take a look.
UNIOVERSE

As a fan of sci-fi games like Star Wars and Halo, I was captivated by this project from the moment I saw it.
Unioverse is built around a high-tech vision, aiming to transform the relationship between developers, gamers, and intellectual property.
Think of Unioverse as a Roblox for AAA game developers. The Unioverse community will hold full licensing rights to all NFTs. This means all AAA-grade art assets, character models, music, and more created by the team can be freely used by other game developers and our community. Developers can create any type of game they want and sell them at their preferred price, keeping 100% of the revenue.
Team
Another major highlight of Unioverse is its team.
-
Tony Harman, the founder, formerly served as Director of Development and Acquisitions at Nintendo. Later, as President of Design at DMA, he and his team co-developed GTA. Most recently, Tony was President at nWay, a mobile-focused game developer dedicated to bringing high-quality games to mobile platforms. He has raised over $150 million for companies he founded.
-
Co-founder Wyeth Ridgway is a veteran in game development, having contributed to over 100 games large and small. He has collaborated with dozens of major IP holders, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Terminator, Lord of the Rings, and South Park. Wyeth co-founded Leviathan Games in 1998 and served as CTO and President for 20 years. Now, Wyeth’s Leviathan studio team is merging into the Random Games Unio team.
Funding
On funding, Unioverse is the first project under Random Game, which announced a $7.6 million seed round in September. While this amount may seem modest for a game targeting AAA quality—after all, one of the “A”s stands for “A lot of money”—the team includes Mark Kendell, a fundraising expert who has secured over $1 billion in capital for more than a dozen film and entertainment companies.
Current Status
Currently, Unioverse is running a "Collection" event where participants can gather specific in-game items from the website within a set timeframe. There are reportedly thirty items in total; collecting all grants eligibility for a final reward (possibly a whitelist). The entire process is completely free, requiring no gas fees—a true embodiment of Free to Own.
Fusionist

Fusionist is another hard-tech-themed game.
Fusionist combines three gameplay genres: colonization (simulation/management), conquest (turn-based tactics), and cooperative play (RPG).
Players take on the role of mech commanders, managing their own planets, gathering rare resources, upgrading technology, scanning tech blueprints, building mechs, and establishing production pipelines. Through PvP and PvE combat, players construct interstellar fleets and conquer the galaxy (similar to EVE?!).
Fusionist aims to address current issues in blockchain gaming—particularly the “play-to-earn” mentality—by delivering professionally crafted gameplay, graphics, and pacing suitable for both esports competition and spectator viewing.

Team
The team consists of experienced veterans from the gaming industry, united by passion for Web3 technology and game development.
Founder Ike T. previously served as Game Director at MOONTON GAMES, leading teams in developing hyper-casual games for the Southeast Asian market.
Funding
Known investors include Binance Labs and Y2Z, both strong backers. However, the team has chosen not to disclose specific funding amounts at this stage—stay tuned!
Current Status
Fusionist previously ran an invitation campaign where users could apply and receive invites to earn Alpha points, granting whitelist access to Free mint the first in-game asset NFT. This NFT also grants entry into Beta testing and future airdrop rewards, with additional in-game utilities expected down the line.
Angelic

Angelic is a strategy role-playing game set in a dark sci-fi universe.
Set in the 28th century, 200 years after a war between corporations and a new species of humanity ended, the long-forgotten "Angelic" race returns from deep space. Corporations have ruled Earth for centuries and are now grappling with a fungal plague. The return of the Angelics pushes these corporations to the brink—and you are one of them.
As you journey through the game, you’ll uncover the deep history between your kind and humankind. You'll learn about Iset the Mother—the first Angelic—your creator and companion. Along the way, you’ll form alliances, build teams, and leave your mark across the cosmos.
In my opinion, Angelic offers the richest gameplay among the three and has already leaked some actual gameplay footage.
The game features both single-player and multiplayer modes, which operate independently.
-
Single-player mode follows a traditional campaign structure—an excellent way to learn mechanics and lore—with generous rewards upon completion.
-
In multiplayer mode, you can choose your faction or guild, engage in wars or PvP battles, gain experience, and unlock new abilities and skills.
Team
Angelic is an independent game studio headquartered in Florida, USA, led by industry veterans.
Founder Erkan Bayol has been deeply involved in the gaming industry since 2004.

Funding
On March 14, 2022, Angelic raised $10 million in funding led by Pantera Capital, Animoca Brands, Solana Ventures, and Everyrealm—providing long-term financial support for the development of the flagship game.
Current Status
Games developed by the Angelic team have been enjoyed by over 100 million players and acquired by industry giants such as Ubisoft, Microsoft, Mail.ru, and Peak Games.
Game NFTs will launch via Free mint on November 7. If you’re a gaming enthusiast, don’t miss this marquee Web3 gaming event!
