TechFlow, August 25 — According to The Wall Street Journal, Taylor Thomson, heir to the Thomson Reuters media empire, lost over $80 million investing in cryptocurrency after following advice from a fortune teller.
Thomson made the investments with the assistance of her former close friend Ashley Richardson, who managed a $140 million cryptocurrency portfolio for Thomson during the 2021 bull market. This included a $40 million investment in XPRT, the native token of the proof-of-stake blockchain project Persistence, which has since fallen 99% from its all-time high. Thomson has filed a $25 million lawsuit against Richardson and Persistence, alleging secret commission arrangements and misrepresentations. Thomson has reached a settlement with Persistence, but the lawsuit against Richardson continues.
