TechFlow news, on August 21, according to Yonhap News Agency, prosecutors concluded the final trial at Jeju District Court regarding the case of South Korean actress Hwang Jung-eum embezzling 4.2 billion won for cryptocurrency investments, recommending a three-year prison sentence.
It is reported that in 2022, Hwang Jung-eum embezzled approximately 4.34 billion won (about 3.3 million USD) from her fully-owned entertainment company "Hunminjeongeum Entertainment," of which 4.2 billion won was used to invest in cryptocurrencies.
Hwang Jung-eum has admitted to all charges during the trial and stated that she fully repaid the funds in two installments between late May and early June this year. The final verdict in the case will be announced in September.
