TechFlow news, August 12 — OpenAI CEO Sam Altman posted on X: Given the surge in demand driven by GPT-5, our compute capacity allocation over the coming months will be prioritized as follows: 1. First, ensure that the total availability for current paid ChatGPT users exceeds pre-GPT-5 levels. 2. Second, prioritize API demand to meet currently allocated capacity and existing customer commitments. (Roughly estimated, current capacity can support about 30% additional API growth.) 3. Improve service quality for the free version of ChatGPT. 4. Then prioritize new API demands. We plan to double our compute cluster capacity within the next five months, which should alleviate this situation.
