TechFlow news, August 6 — According to Decrypt, some Cardano users are unable to claim the Midnight Foundation's Glacier airdrop due to software limitations in Ledger hardware wallets. Cardano co-founder Charles Hoskinson explained that the issue lies with Ledger's implementation of the CIP-8 message signing protocol, which currently supports only 31-byte message signatures, while the Glacier airdrop requires 251 bytes.
Cardano developers said they are rolling out a temporary solution using metadata from empty transactions to include airdrop data. Midnight Foundation chair Fahmi Syed stated that affected users will not lose their eligibility for the airdrop, and an official solution is expected by August 25. He also warned users to beware of fake websites and unauthorized solutions.
