TechFlow news, July 3 — According to CNBC, the U.S. government has revoked export restrictions on chip design software to China. Chip design software giants Synopsys and Cadence have both confirmed the news, stating they are resuming software and technology access for Chinese customers. Previously, on May 23, 2025, the U.S. required several companies, including Synopsys, Cadence, and Siemens EDA, to obtain licenses before exporting to China. Together, these three firms account for approximately 74% of the global electronic design automation (EDA) market share. This move follows last week's conditional trade truce agreement between China and the U.S., under which China has agreed to resume certain rare earth and advanced technology exchanges.
