He Yadong, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, stated that from June 9 to 10 local time, the Chinese and U.S. economic and trade teams held the first meeting of the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism in London, UK. Both sides reached a general consensus on measures to implement the important understandings achieved during the telephone conversation between the two heads of state on June 5 and to consolidate the outcomes of the Geneva economic and trade talks. They also made new progress in addressing each other's economic and trade concerns. Going forward, both sides will further leverage the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism, maintain continuous communication and dialogue, enhance mutual understanding, reduce misunderstandings, strengthen cooperation, and jointly promote steady and long-term development of China-U.S. economic and trade relations.
