TechFlow news, May 15 — According to BeInCrypto, the Nebraska Legislature passed LB 526 with a unanimous 49-0 vote. The bill introduces new regulatory requirements for Bitcoin mining operations.
Under the bill, large-scale mining companies must bear the costs of infrastructure upgrades and are required to regularly report their energy usage. Additionally, authorities have the right to interrupt power supply to mining facilities when necessary. The legislation primarily focuses on grid usage rather than environmental impacts such as carbon emissions.
The bill still requires signature from Governor Jim Pillen before it becomes effective. Previously, Pillen described cryptocurrency as an "important emerging industry," though he has not made specific comments regarding mining activities.
