TechFlow news, May 12 — According to Jinshi Data, the Nikkei recently reported that Alibaba's Qwen large model has become a foundation for AI development in Japan. In Nikkei's evaluation and ranking of AI models, Qwen2.5-Max ranked sixth, surpassing well-known domestic and international large models such as DeepSeek-V3 and OpenAI o3-mini. The report noted that numerous emerging Japanese companies are developing enterprise-level large models based on Qwen. To date, Alibaba's Tongyi has open-sourced over 200 models, with global downloads exceeding 300 million, and more than 100,000 derivative models built upon Qwen, making it the world's leading open-source model.
