TechFlow news, May 7 — According to a developer statement, Bitcoin Core's next version may remove the limit that OP_RETURN outputs must not exceed 80 bytes.
It stated that the 80-byte cap on OP_RETURN is no longer suitable for current needs, as many private mining accelerators already do not enforce this restriction, leading to distorted incentive mechanisms.
