TechFlow news, May 6 — According to Bloomberg Tax, two top officials from the IRS's digital assets division, Sulolit "Raj" Mukherjee and Seth Wilks, have recently announced their departures. A person familiar with the matter said Trish Turner, a veteran official with over 20 years at the IRS, will take over leadership. Turner previously served as senior advisor in the Office of Digital Assets.
The leadership changes come as the Trump administration considers loosening cryptocurrency regulations. Notably, while the IRS has recently intensified its regulatory and enforcement efforts on cryptocurrencies, its proposed crypto broker rule has faced strong industry opposition due to its broad scope.
In addition, under the deferred resignation program launched by the Trump administration, more than 23,000 IRS employees have indicated their intention to leave, signaling major personnel shifts within the agency.
