TechFlow news, May 4 — According to The Block, Apple has been forced to make significant changes to its U.S. App Store policies after losing a legal battle with Epic Games. Under the new rules, app developers can now direct users to external payment methods, bypassing Apple's previously mandatory 27–30% commission fees. This move is expected to substantially reduce operating costs for NFT and cryptocurrency-related applications.
It was reported that Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers of the Northern District of California ruled in favor of Epic Games. Although Apple stated it will appeal the decision, it has already updated its App Store guidelines for the U.S. region. Notably, this policy change applies only to the U.S. market, while other regions will continue to operate under the previous restrictions.
