TechFlow news, April 22 — According to Jinshi Data, AXIOS reported that Frank Lucas, a Republican member of a special congressional task force focused on the Federal Reserve, said there is bipartisan interest in strengthening safeguards for the Fed's independence. Lucas made the remarks as Trump intensifies his criticism of Federal Reserve Chair Powell, raising concerns that the White House might attempt to remove Powell from office. Lucas stated that the task force has discussed the importance of the Fed's independence and how to make the "protective barriers higher, stronger, and more robust." He added that it would not be easy for Trump to fire the Fed chair, noting that Powell has publicly committed to serving out his term, which ends next year.
