TechFlow, April 12 — According to Cryptopolitan, the Peshawar High Court in Pakistan has ordered the federal government to resolve the nationwide issue of illegal cryptocurrency transactions within two months. The court requires the government to first develop a relevant strategy and submit a comprehensive report.
The case was filed by lawyer Huzaifa Ahmad. According to the petition, despite the State Bank of Pakistan issuing a notice as early as 2018 declaring virtual currencies such as Bitcoin and Litecoin illegal as payment methods, individuals and businesses continue to conduct transactions via internet channels. In particular, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, certain training institutions not only offer services related to Bitcoin and foreign exchange trading but also market these services on social media platforms including TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.
The Deputy Attorney General representing the federal government stated that the government is currently drafting relevant legislation, expected to take approximately one month to complete. Ultimately, the court granted the government two months to submit its policy proposal.
