TechFlow news — On March 21, according to WIRED, the Trump administration plans to rename the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as the U.S. International Humanitarian Assistance Agency (IHA), placing it directly under the leadership of the Secretary of State. According to an internal memo obtained by WIRED, the restructured agency will "utilize blockchain technology" in its procurement processes.
The memo states that "all allocations will be securely managed and tracked via blockchain technology, significantly enhancing security, transparency, and traceability." However, the memo does not clarify the specific implementation details—such as whether cryptocurrency or stablecoins will be used for cash transfers, or if blockchain ledgers will only be employed to track the distribution of aid.
