TechFlow reports, on March 16, according to blockchain investigator ZachXBT's personal channel post, a highly credible investigation into the Tornado Cash asset theft revealed that on March 11, 2025, after completing coin mixing via Tornado Cash, North Korean hackers used part of the stolen ETH funds to purchase 437.6 billion PEPE tokens worth $3.1 million. Further analysis indicates that the North Korean hackers were compromised through a malicious Tornado Cash user interface, resulting in asset theft.
Previously, Lookonchain data showed that three wallets made large purchases totaling 689.79 billion PEPE tokens (worth approximately $4.3 million), with all funds originating from Tornado Cash.
