TechFlow news, on March 4, according to an announcement by the Tariff Commission of the State Council, China will impose additional tariffs on certain imported goods originating from the United States starting March 10, 2025. This measure is in response to the U.S. government's March 3 announcement of imposing a 10% tariff on all Chinese exports to the U.S., citing fentanyl-related concerns.
The relevant matters are as follows:
1. Imposing an additional 15% tariff on chicken, wheat, corn, and cotton.
2. Imposing an additional 10% tariff on sorghum, soybeans, pork, beef, aquatic products, fruits, vegetables, and dairy products.
3. For imported goods originating from the United States listed in the attached schedule, corresponding additional tariffs shall be levied on top of the currently applicable tariff rates. Existing bonded, tax exemption, and reduction policies remain unchanged, and the additional tariffs imposed under this announcement are not exemptible or reducible.
4. Goods that have departed from their place of origin before March 10, 2025, and are imported between March 10, 2025, and April 12, 2025, shall not be subject to the additional tariffs specified in this announcement.
