TechFlow reported on March 4 that, according to CryptoSlate, U.S. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer and Representative Ritchie Torres announced the formation of the Congressional Crypto Caucus, a bipartisan coalition aimed at advancing pro-cryptocurrency legislation.
Unlike the Congressional Blockchain Caucus formed in 2017, the newly established crypto-focused group will operate as a voting bloc to mobilize support for digital asset legislation, including bills related to stablecoins and market structure reforms.
Tom Emmer stated that the caucus was created in response to constituents' demand for clear and innovation-friendly digital asset policies. Currently, the House is considering two stablecoin regulation bills, while the Senate Banking Committee plans to hold a markup session as early as next week on Senator Bill Hagerty’s stablecoin bill.
The formation of this caucus reflects growing recognition among lawmakers of the role digital assets play in the economy and the need to establish clear, comprehensive regulations.
