TechFlow news, according to Guanchazhe Network, U.S. President Trump held his first cabinet meeting of his second term on February 26, with Elon Musk attending and speaking as head of the Department of Government Efficiency despite not being a cabinet member. Musk stated that his role is to provide "humble technical support" to the Trump administration, displaying a black T-shirt emblazoned with the words "technical support," which he described as a "literal description" of the Department of Government Efficiency's work.
Musk emphasized that the United States cannot afford a $2 trillion deficit, noting that interest payments on the national debt already exceed defense spending. He expressed confidence in saving approximately $1 trillion (about 15% of the federal budget) by identifying government fraud and waste, stating, "From now until September 8, we need to save $4 billion every day." Musk also revealed that due to widespread criticism of his work, he has received multiple death threats.
Regarding the controversy over requiring federal employees to submit weekly reports, Musk explained this was merely a "pulse check" aimed at confirming "Are these people real? Are they still alive? Can they write emails?" He argued the requirement was minimal and intended to prevent the government from paying salaries to fictitious personnel.
