TechFlow news, on February 25, Upbit issued an official statement clarifying and providing factual explanations regarding certain inaccurate information in the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU)'s announcement titled "Disclosure on Sanctions against Dunamu."
Upbit stated that claims alleging "30,000 fake identification documents (including hand-drawn IDs) passed through the KYC system" are untrue. The so-called hand-drawn IDs were internal test cases conducted by employees to evaluate the performance of the optical character recognition (OCR) system, not actual KYC verification cases. Authorities have already confirmed this and excluded these tests from any violation findings. Upbit will further clarify the relevant facts through established procedures.
