TechFlow reported on February 25 that, according to Fox Business journalist Eleanor Terrett, given the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) recent strong interest in staking activities, it may reconsider its previous lawsuit against ConsenSys regarding MetaMask's staking services. The SEC had previously accused ConsenSys of operating as an unregistered broker-dealer, a charge similar to one it recently dropped against Coinbase.
Earlier, Eleanor Terrett revealed that, according to a source recently in contact with the SEC, the regulator is "very, very focused" on staking, going so far as to request industry participants to provide a detailed memo explaining different types of staking and their benefits. The source expects the SEC to issue guidance on staking activities in the future.
