TechFlow reported on February 20, according to The Block, that Nigerian authorities have filed a lawsuit against cryptocurrency exchange Binance, seeking over $79 billion in economic damages and $2 billion in unpaid taxes.
The Nigerian Federal Inland Revenue Service stated that Binance's operations in the country are illegal. Previously, in March 2024, the agency had sued Binance over four tax violations, including failure to pay corporate income tax and failure to file tax returns.
