TechFlow reports, according to The Block, that the Ethereum official execution client Geth (go-ethereum) development team issued an urgent announcement on February 18, urging validators using version v1.15.1 to immediately upgrade to v1.15.2. This update aims to prevent network stability issues and disruptions in validator operations.
The development team noted that version v1.15.1 contains a regression issue that could lead to failed block proposals on the Ethereum mainnet, causing validators to miss block proposal opportunities and consequently lose block rewards and transaction fees.
Geth is the most widely used execution layer client on Ethereum, utilized by over 40% of validators. This update follows closely after a previous patch that fixed a vulnerability which could potentially subject nodes to denial-of-service attacks.
