TechFlow news, February 18 — According to Hong Kong Radio, Ye Zhiheng, Executive Director of the Intermediaries Division at the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), said that the SFC will release a virtual asset development roadmap this month. The roadmap will clarify development principles and cover areas the SFC plans to study with the market in the short term, as well as aspects platform participants hope to improve.
It is reported that the SFC held its first Virtual Asset Advisory Group meeting last week, discussing the future direction of the market with representatives from licensed virtual asset trading platform operators. Ye pointed out that while there was active license application during the initial phase, greater attention should now be placed on business operation models to ensure sustainable development.
Ye added that the upcoming virtual asset roadmap is less about specific content and more about demonstrating the SFC's regulatory principles and stance to the market. He believes market development and regulation are not contradictory, and that as a regulator, it is essential to deeply understand the market in order to achieve better oversight.
