TechFlow news — According to The New York Times, Danielle Sassoon, the acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, abruptly resigned on February 13. Sassoon was the lead prosecutor in the case against FTX founder SBF. Her resignation may be linked to the Department of Justice's directive to pause the corruption investigation into New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
It is reported that Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove ordered a hold on bringing charges against Adams until the Senate confirms a new U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York. Former SEC Chairman Jay Clayton has been nominated for the position. Adams has previously faced allegations of accepting illegal political contributions from the Turkish government and of allegedly facilitating approvals for a Turkish consulate building despite its lack of required fire safety certification.
