TechFlow reported on February 13, citing Fox Business journalist Eleanor Terrett, that as digital asset regulation becomes a key priority, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) are discussing enhanced cooperation on cryptocurrency regulation. The two agencies are considering reviving the SEC-CFTC Joint Advisory Committee, which has been inactive since 2014.
The committee was originally established in 2010 to serve as a forum for both agencies to discuss emerging regulatory issues. CFTC Acting Chair Pham previously called for the committee's reorganization last year, stating that it would demonstrate regulators’ commitment to a new, collaborative approach to overseeing digital assets.
