TechFlow news, on February 5, Bitcoin mining company Bitdeer announced the acquisition of a 19-acre land and permits near Fox Creek, Alberta, Canada for $21.7 million. The site has already received approval to construct a 101-megawatt natural gas power plant and is authorized to establish a 99-megawatt grid interconnection with the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO).
Bitdeer plans to begin site preparation in the second quarter of 2025, with full power operations expected by the fourth quarter of 2026. In addition to the land purchase, the natural gas power plant is expected to require an additional investment of $90 million, while the Bitcoin mining data center infrastructure will need an extra $30 million in investment.
