TechFlow reports that on February 4, according to The Block, the Ethereum network successfully increased its block gas limit for the first time under the PoS mechanism after gaining support from over 50% of validators. Data shows the gas limit has risen from the previous 30 million to 31.5 million, and is expected to eventually adjust to 36 million.
This adjustment was completed without requiring a hard fork, supporting network scalability. Notably, Ethereum's last gas limit adjustment occurred in 2021, when it doubled from 15 million to 30 million. Although the Dencun upgrade has improved network scalability, adjusting the gas limit remains necessary as demand from DApps continues to grow.
