TechFlow reports, on January 23, according to Fortune, Trump previously granted a pardon to Ross Ulbricht, founder of Silk Road, ending his nearly 12-year imprisonment. In 2013, the FBI seized 144,000 bitcoins owned by Ulbricht, which the U.S. Marshals Service auctioned in 2014 at $334 per coin, earning approximately $48 million. At current prices, these bitcoins are worth about $14 billion. Venture capitalist Tim Draper acquired around 30,000 bitcoins during the auction. Although pardoned, under a 1993 Supreme Court precedent, Ulbricht can no longer reclaim this asset.
