TechFlow reports, on January 16, according to U.S. political news website Politico, Senator Cynthia Lummis sent a letter to the U.S. Marshals Service on January 16 questioning the rationale behind its plan to sell seized bitcoins. Lummis pointed out that hastily selling bitcoin during the presidential transition period contradicts the incoming administration's policy goal of establishing a national bitcoin reserve.
According to her analysis, previous poorly timed sales may have already cost U.S. taxpayers over $18.5 billion in unrealized gains. As a Republican representative from Wyoming, Lummis has requested the Marshals Service provide more detailed information about its bitcoin disposal plans to ensure government asset management aligns with long-term strategic interests.
