TechFlow news — On January 16, Yu Xian, founder of SlowMist, warned about a surge in fraudulent activities on Telegram impersonating Safeguard. Hackers are using fake comments to drive traffic and trick users into installing malware, ultimately leading to asset theft.
If a user's computer is infected, the following security measures should be taken immediately:
-
Transfer all funds from previously used wallets; even password-protected extension wallets should not be considered safe;
-
Change all saved passwords in the browser, account passwords for logged-in services, and two-factor authentication (2FA) settings;
-
Update passwords for other applications on the computer, such as Telegram, even if no threats have been detected yet;
Yu Xian recommends backing up critical data before reinstalling the operating system and installing reputable antivirus software such as AVG, Bitdefender, or Kaspersky. Currently, this scam primarily targets Windows and Mac users. While mobile devices are not yet affected, users should remain vigilant.
