TechFlow news — On January 9, according to the Bangkok Post, Thai police conducted a raid in Chonburi Province and seized 996 bitcoin mining rigs suspected of electricity theft. The operation, jointly carried out by Region 2 Police and the Provincial Electricity Authority, found that the miners had been illegally drawing power by bypassing electricity meters.
Insiders revealed that the mining farm operated only at night to evade detection. In August 2024, Malaysia destroyed nearly 1,000 illegal mining rigs in a similar case. Authorities have now confiscated the equipment and launched an investigation.
