TechFlow reported on January 9 that, according to Trader T's post on X, although the U.S. government has been granted approval to liquidate 69,370 BTC seized from the dark web marketplace Silk Road, the actual sale could take several months. (For reference, a court established a plan in 2023 to liquidate 30,000 BTC.)
In addition, Spot On Chain noted that the U.S. government currently holds approximately 197,000 BTC. Previous sales were conducted via over-the-counter transactions, which did not directly impact prices, though resulting market panic may have caused temporary price declines.
