TechFlow news — On January 5, according to data compiled by financial tracker PitchBook for TechCrunch, global generative AI companies raised $56 billion from venture capital in 2024 across 885 deals, setting a new record for the sector. This marks a 192% increase compared to 2023, when investors poured $29.1 billion into generative AI startups through 691 transactions.
In particular, deal value surged to $31.1 billion in the fourth quarter of 2024, driven largely by several massive financings, including Databricks’ $10 billion Series J round, xAI’s $6 billion Series C round, Anthropic’s $4 billion strategic investment from Amazon, and OpenAI’s $6.6 billion funding round.
“We’re not seeing any slowdown in generative AI financing, as high-profile companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, and xAI continue to secure major funding rounds and launch new competitive products,” said Ali Javaheri, senior technology analyst at PitchBook, in an interview.
