TechFlow news, January 5 — This morning after Solv Protocol's official Twitter account was compromised, Yu Xian, founder of SlowMist, shared on X effective measures to protect against Twitter account theft and common phishing attacks:
- Enable 2FA authentication;
- Advanced phishing attacks may use reverse proxy techniques to steal account passwords and 2FA codes, then directly modify critical information such as email addresses to fully take over the target account and leave backdoor traces—these can include covert third-party authorizations or Passkeys;
- Planting malware on computers to hijack accounts;
- In overseas regions, some mobile numbers are more vulnerable to Sim Swap attacks;
- Malicious third-party app authorizations via OAuth2 protocol;
- Account sharing leading to compromise.
