TechFlow reports that on December 18, Zilliqa announced the launch of its mainnet version 2.0, Agate, scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. The Aventurine prototype mainnet has already been activated for testing. The new version will transition from the current consensus mechanism to Proof-of-Stake (PoS), enabling full state migration for both Scilla and EVM smart contracts.
The Aventurine testing phase will offer users features including a staking portal test, developer dApp compatibility verification, and validator node configuration. Users can connect their EVM wallets to the staking portal and select validators for staking. The Zilliqa team stated that extending the testing period aims to ensure stability and security during network migration, while providing sufficient adaptation time for ecosystem participants.
