TechFlow news — On December 18, according to Cointelegraph, the UK government released four policy recommendations in its consultation on artificial intelligence and the creative industries. One proposal would allow AI companies to use copyrighted materials without permission from rights holders. Feedback on AI and the creative industries can be submitted until February 25, 2025.
Peter Kyle, Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, stated in a declaration that uncertainty over how copyright law applies to AI is hindering both sectors from reaching their full potential. He noted that the current AI and copyright framework fails to support either the UK's creative industries or its AI sector in competing globally.
