TechFlow news — On December 16, according to an official blog post, the liquid staking protocol Lido announced it will deprecate Lido on Polygon over the coming months. Following extensive discussions in the DAO forum and a subsequent community vote, LDO token holders have proposed terminating the Lido on Polygon protocol, and the shutdown process will soon begin. Lido stated that strategically refocusing on Ethereum and the lack of scalability in Polygon POS are the reasons for deactivating Lido on Polygon. Key dates are as follows:
- December 16, 2024: Staking on Lido for Polygon will halt and no new stakes will be accepted via the UI;
- December 16, 2024 – June 16, 2025: A six-month transition period during which users can withdraw through Lido’s Polygon UI;
- January 15, 2025 – January 22, 2025: The protocol will pause and then resume operations; no withdrawals can be processed during this time;
- June 16, 2025: Frontend support ends; after this date, withdrawals will only be possible via browser tools.
