TechFlow news — On December 10, according to crypto.news, the cryptocurrency-themed film "Crypto Man," directed by South Korean director Hyun Hae-ri, is set for release on January 15, 2025. Based on a real-life crypto crash that resulted in over 50 trillion won (approximately $34.9 billion) in losses, the film stars the late actor Song Jae-rim.
The movie follows protagonist Yang Do-hyun (played by Song Jae-rim), who, after multiple failed entrepreneurial ventures, co-launches a cryptocurrency called MOMMY and achieves sudden success, only to face regulatory scrutiny. Reportedly developed with rigorous legal consultation, the film will use black humor to depict the reality of young South Koreans who "trade stocks during the day and cryptocurrencies at night."
According to Upbit data, as of the end of 2023, South Korea had 3,759 cryptocurrency millionaires (in won), among whom investors in their twenties held an average of $3.65 million in digital assets.
