TechFlow news, December 6 — According to Bloomberg, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said at the New York Times DealBook Summit in New York that he is not concerned about rival Elon Musk using political influence to suppress competitors. Recently, Musk was appointed co-leader of former President Trump’s proposed Department of Government Efficiency, alongside former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
"Using political power to harm your competitors and benefit your own business is not in the spirit of America," Altman said. "I think people won't tolerate that. I don't think Elon will do that."
Altman expressed "tremendous respect" for Musk's plans to build an xAI data center in Tennessee, acknowledging xAI as a "serious competitor." However, he also expressed regret over the current state of their relationship: "I used to view Elon as a superhero. I’m deeply saddened by how things have turned out."
