TechFlow news, on December 5, according to Cointelegraph, Austin Federa, head of strategy at the Solana Foundation, has left the project to co-found a new protocol and network called DoubleZero, aimed at managing high-performance, permissionless networks.
Federa said in a statement on X on December 4 that leaving Solana after four years was "one of the hardest career decisions I've had to make," but his new role will still allow him to engage with the network "from a different angle." Federa stated that his new project, DoubleZero, is not an L1 or L2 protocol, but rather a new type of globally distributed foundational network—N1—optimized for blockchains, designed to increase bandwidth and reduce latency.
