TechFlow news, on November 21, according to Fortune, newly released tax documents show that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's salary for 2023 was $76,001, a slight increase from $73,546 in 2022. Altman, whose net worth exceeds $2 billion, previously stated his salary is only the "minimum amount required for health insurance." During the same period, former chief scientist Ilya Sutskever earned a salary of $322,000, while interim CEO Emmett Shear received $3,720 in compensation during the November crisis.
The tax documents only reflect salaries from the nonprofit division and do not include equity incentives. According to the documents, OpenAI's nonprofit division received $5 million in public donations in 2023 and ended the year with over $21 million in net assets—relatively small compared to the $6.6 billion raised in October this year.
